Two Eyes in Seattle

Last weekend, my newest project made our Seattle debut. Two Eyes, as I mentioned in a previous post was formed early post-pandemic. Tacoma opened up before Seattle and I met drummer Tom Hume on a call from a Tacoma-based guitar player. Tom pulled together a group of musicians that ultimately become Two Eyes.

Mariia Pozhar - Vocals

Karl Ronning - Trumpet

Jon Reingold - Piano

Tom on drums and me on bass

We've dug deep for vocal jazz tunes that we love, while avoiding over-saturation of the standards that everyone tends to play. I've also been composing for this group and Mariia and I co-created a new tune called “Thinking Of You”. She has a new one in the works and so do I. The upside with this group feels pretty big, but 2022 was limited to Tacoma-area gigs and it was important to us and especially me, as a Seattle based player, to stake our claim up here as well.

Last week, we did just that at Station 18 in Ballard. Really couldn't ask for a much better room to get started in and we were blessed with a full house. How did it go? Well, we're always self-critical, of course, but they immediately asked us back on May 6th. We're excited and grateful and plan to have a few new tunes ironed out and fresh polish on the catalogue.

Things seems to be happening a little bit and I couldn't be happier about it.
